Tu B’Shevat

tu b'shvat Emunah Montreal celebrated Tu B’Shevat the New Year for the Trees, on January 20th, 2011. 25 women gathered together at the Emunah offices to rejoice in the fruit of the tree and the fruit of the vine as they celebrated the abundant gifts of the natural world.

Modeled on the Passover seder, the Tu B'Shevat seder, lead by the inspirational Ora Rubinstein, included drinking four cups of wine with varying percentages of red and white wine. The seder also included readings on trees and fruit from a range of Jewish literature. Guests then enjoyed a delicious lunch with fruits and nuts as they celebrated the holiday of trees.

Emunah’s annual Fall Gala, held in November, proved to be a most successful and meaningful fundraising event. This year Emunah was proud to pay tribute to Roslyn Schneidman, Executive Vice-President of Emunah for over three decades. Roslyn has been the voice and face of Emunah in Canada and has educated the leadership of Emunah across Canada in the ideology and principles of Emunah. Her passion for Emunah’s children in Israel has resulted in many successful achievements and has greatly contributed to the growth of the Neve Michael Children’s Village.

This elegant and beautiful evening was chaired by a steering committee of ten dynamic women.
